MAY, SPRING 2010
Seattle is slowing down - a lot of jobs have topped out. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is still going strong. UW still has a lot of work coming up and are still trying to get the Husky stadium going. The Mercer Street Mess will be starting soon.
Howard S. Wright is still going strong in Olympia and will be getting more hours at the University of Washington Hospital soon - that is also a good size job!
Overlake Hospital is going good and we have SAK doing the concrete package on that job for Anderson Construction.
Bomel Parking Garage is also going strong on HWY 99. They are happy with #528!!
Turner - Car Rental Facility by Sea Tac is still going strong for Local 528 - we have Mowatt, Conco & Ferguson and RFI - all have finishers working on this job!!
Children's Hospital is a go! Rumor is footings this fall!
There is a good size job starting up on I-90 at Hyak. Kuney has the contract - and will use our hall for Bridge decks. Merlino has white paving on their job. Merlino is also working on I-90, a different phase - a lot of paving!
Bellevue & Kirkland have 3 schools starting up - Bellevue High School, Finn Hill & Spirit Ridge. We don't know who has the concrete package yet. Atkinson also has the Bellevue road projects. The concrete work is a ways out . This is a three year project. Dirt work has started.

Turner - Car rental facility is in full swing and things are going good! A lot of finishers hours are coming out of this job, for Conco, Ferguson, Rainer Floors and Mowatt!
PCL - Bomel parking garage on HWY 99 is going good. There is still a lot of work left.
HSW - Olympia job is now going strong & 528 finishers are on site pouring and patching. They have a bunch of pours coming up - weather pending...
Shanska / HSW - The UW Hospital just recently had it's 1st rat slab pour - work is just getting started....Big Job!!
Sellen - Hospital job in Issaquah is coming out of the ground and just getting started. A lot of walls are up.
Children's Hospital - got a green light from surrounding neighborhood and city council to start work. There is around the 2 million sf of concrete. This is a huge job for us and most all crafts!
BNBuilder's has a project at UW coming up.
Overlake Hospital / Anderson Construction - SAK has concrete package and pours have just started on the parking garage - good size job!!
There is a big road project getting ready to start up in Bellevue. Atkinson will be performing the work.
Lydig - New jail in Sea-Tac area will be putting some of our subcontractors to work soon!
We still have a lot of Firestations, Hospitals, Schools, Water treatment plants, and road work going on and more coming up. Thank you Public Works!!
Make sure to follow Dispatch rules! Unemployment had been craking down hard!

Sellen - Downtown jobs are all topping out. They do have a big hospital job in Issaquah starting up. They also have a big job at Children's Hopsital, if the neighbors would get out of the way of progress and let them start the building!
There are still schools, firestations, roadwork, hospitals and water treatment facilities work going on and much coming up.
Brett Johnson (Dispatcher) signed Ferguson to a one project agreement on the Maple Leaf project. Good Deal!!
Make sure you are answering the phone and/ or checking in with the hall - unemployment is really cracking down. People are having to pay back benefits.

The PLA for the Pontoons has been agreed to and signed - will be Union!!! Still don't know who is going to be awarded this 4 billions dollar project!
Howard S. Wright - Has started footings in Olympia. Slabs are a little ways out. HSW also has the concrete package in Seattle on the University of Washington campus for Skanska.
Sellen still has a lot of work.Including Amazon.com and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Hospital in the Issaquah Highlands will start up again the first of January. They also have work on other Hospitals right now.
The Car Rental Facility at Sea-Tac is still moving right along. The weather is slowing things down a bit. We do have a crew out there patching now - Conco Finishers.
Bomel has the concrete package on parking garage down the street from the car rental. It will begin concrete work in the middle of December / January. The Superintendent says he is going to self-perform work with Local 528 finishers.
Merlino has a few projects coming up in both Renton & Tacoma.
There is still going to be a lot of work on the Water Treatment Plants, Schools, Fire Stations, Hospitals and roadwork, thanks to stimulus money!

First I would like to thank everyone who voted for me to go to the convention in Las Vegas. I was proud to represent the Local 528 and all the brother and sisters of our union.
The Howard S. Wright job in Olympia- the dirtwork is ahead of schedule and they plan on doing some footings in mid to late October. From there, the job will take off. We are still uncertain who the concrete foreman is yet.
The Potoon's are a year out. There are four bidders on the job. The job will be in Gray's Harbor. In Tacoma, the Nalley Valley Bridges started pouring decks last week. John Wayne has the barrier work.
Seattle is still busy and Kiewit started pours on the ramps and bridges on 3rd Avenue. There will be a lot of patch work on this project.
Mid Mountain is still working on Spokane Street off and on the ramps. PCL has the 2nd Phase of that job. widening Spokane Street. Mid Mountain is also still at Clover Dale Water Plant pouring.
Park Garage on HWY 99 - PCL has subcontracted the concrete package out to Bomel for swirl finish. They will be pouring rat slabs next week and will need all hall guys!
The Car rental facility is up and going strong. Larusso & Conco have been on-site pouring and Conco will have patchers on site soon!
Sellen is still very busy with a lot of work downtown. They have started dirtwork on a large hospital job is in Issaquah. Pours have started on another hospital in Enumclaw.
Merlino has a few projects coming up in both Renton & Tacoma.

Thank you to everybody who came out and voted! It was a very good turn out. Congratulations to all of you who were voted into positions!
Olympia has work going on. Howard S. Wright is getting their site on Jefferson & Wheeler fenced off and waiting for the notice to start construction. There is approx. 5 months of dirtwork. This will be a very big job.
Hoffman - 4th & Cherry is just getting started and the piles are almost done. ARS - Lott Waterplant addition will be doing the first slab in the next couple of weeks. Ft Lewis is still busy and getting busier!
Atkinson's Nalley Valley Bridge project is on schedule and work is coming.!
There is still a lot of work coming up on hospitals and schools in both the Northend and the Southend!
The SeaTac airport area is still busy. Merlino is on the runway project and is going strong. Mowatt is finishing up the station for link rail - car rental facility is scheduled to start back up July 6th.
Moncrieff is doing a large warehouse with a PLA agreement- 50/50 manpower. Looks good! Bruce is happy with the help we sent him.
PCL is moving dirt again on the parking garage next to Denny's on HWY99.
POE has two good projects coming up! One in Fife and one in Auburn. RFI has the flatwork for both projects.
Seattle work is picking up - South Lake Union is still real busy. There are a lot of roads and sidewalks being replaced in the downtown area. Merlino has much of this work. UW continues to have work and more coming up in the near future.
Bellevue & Redmond have slowed down a bit. GLY / Microsoft job is almost complete - Nice job GLY!!
The other Microsoft job to be shut down for a while. This is Turner - SAK projects.
Nintendo campus is still going - this is also Turner job

The car facility is a go July 6th, FULL BORE - the bonds passed!!
We have recently signed Aaron Stegmieir, ARS to a contract. They have the concrete package to the water treatment plant in Olympia for John Korsmo. Also some work up north in Snohomish County. He does not have a concrete crew and he will be using our list to pick his crew. So let's do him a good union job!!
Atkinson will be gearing up for the Nalley Valley job late June & July for finishers on this job - there is over 400,000 sf of bridge-deck on this job!
Schools, hospitals and government work are still going steady. Fort Lewis is going to be very busy with all kinds of projects for the next two & three years.
The Sound Transit tunnel and the Viaduct tunnel are both trying to get started - these are both long jobs!
South Lake Union area is still booming and will be all summer!

Work is about the same as last month, with about 150 people on average left on the list. Work should start to get better as the weather starts to get better!
The car rental facility at SeaTac Airport is scheduled to start back up on July 6th, they are hoping. Keep your fingers crossed because that project will give our trade a lot of hours!
People running work, please try and put some our apprentices to work. Remember, they are our future.
Also everyone - guys and gals - YOU ARE our eye's in the field and we need your help to put a stop to the other trades doing our work. It takes a way from all of us!
